yoga is a state of mind

my favorite Shiva Sutra is Chaitanyam Atma. Consciousness is the self. its so simple and so perfect. how we choose to identify ourselves is how we are. the self is vast but if we chose to identify with manas ( the mind- little self) instead of Atman ( the big self)  then that is how our experience of the world will be. thank goddess we have so many changes to chose this path. the way we are every day every moment if you loose it one moment you can always choose it in the next . i am very aware of this because today i have not been in the state of yoga. first i had to much caffeine. then i forgot to drink water. then i hectically rushed about trying to do 1 million things really fast without thinking. i arrived at my class this evening speeding like a demon and crazy eyed. i finally sat down and took a big breath and remembered once more why i do this why i practice and why i teach. it is a blessing and a gift to be able to take time to remind each other that this is what we are all here for. not to get nice abs not to wear your cute pants but to truly use these tools ( asana, prananyama, mediation) and be supported by this community to connect back to your true .. vast… amazing self.  we are always flowing in, out, and through this state of consciousness this state of self and mind. just so you know you are not alone you are perfect as you are in this moment and grace is raining down on you every second of every day just open your self to it.

Hey Sis,I am tilrlhed that youare having a good time up there. Just reading about it makes me want to try yoga again, the problem I find with it is that I cannot quiet my brain, this has proven to be problematic in so many areas of my life. I over think then panic and as a result become a chaotic mess. Anyways I just wanted to comment on your evperience at the hot spring. I love it there! I remember going when Mom Dad Brian and I took a holiday to the Kooteny lake (summer Pam caught Mono) The caves are beautiful and it feels like a real hot spring, whereas other ones, like radium or Miet, feel like warm pools. The surroundings really make a huge difference and somehow it feels more pure. I hope everything goes well for Aarons flight and I cant wait to chat about your adventure when you return home.Sharon
